Working Holidays

Holidays that don’t cost the earth

Across the National Trust we are working to reduce our impact on the environment and we know that many of our volunteers are concerned about their impact on the Environment. We are developing products to reduce energy and water use, growing and producing local food, promoting green travel and recycling. We are inviting you to join us in our efforts on a Working Holiday.

Working Holidays offer a unique opportunity to meet new people, discover a new area and make a real difference to help protect the fragile and beautiful habitats the National Trust safeguards for the nation.

The activities for the week depend on the holiday you choose, from drystone walling to footpath work, Rhododendron clearance to tree planting you’re guaranteed to get plenty of fresh air and learn new skills. There are special interest holidays covering photography, yurt building and one on our Organic farm.  We also run Youth Discovery Holidays for those aged 16-19 years old.

Our exciting new venture for 2009 is Family Working Holidays for two adults and up to three children.

All food is provided on the holiday and is freshly prepared each evening by your fellow volunteers using as far as possible locally sourced seasonal food.

Craflwyn offers two types of accommodation for working holidays, the standard holiday stay in the bunkhouse, with dormitory style accommodation. For those who like their creature comforts the premium holidays stay in the Hall, which offers mostly en-suite twin rooms.

For details of working holidays contact the National Trust working holiday booking office on 0870 4 29 24 29 or look at the website at Working-holidays.
